On the Way Home
On the way home, while the interview is fresh in your memory, make notes as to your impressions of the firm, the industry and the person you interviewed. This is the time to recall those observations you made regarding company culture as well as any special interests of the person you interviewed.
Already in your notes should be:
- The name of the person with whom you spoke and anyone else to whom you were introduced.
- Notes on all your questions.
- The name of the person ultimately responsible for hiring candidates such as yourself.
- Referral names shared by the person you interviewed.
If you have a Blackberry or similar device, you can enter these notes during and after the Information Interview. Those without technological gadgets, can create a Sourcebook or source file when you get home, whether this be a physical card file or a database on your computer.
